COMMUNITY SERVICES & ASSET DEVELOPMENT

RESOURCE & OUTREACH ADVOCATE

24 hour/week position based at our Northampton office. Responsibilities include answering our information & referral phone line, screening callers for benefit programs, scheduling appointments, making connections to other resources, outreach to community members, businesses and organizations within our service area, and attending community events and coalition meetings.

 Strong candidates will have experience working with individuals with lower incomes, excellent customer service and communication skills, ability to engage positively with community members and organizations and experience with community outreach or marketing. Bi-lingual Spanish preferred. Reliable transportation and valid driver’s license required.  $13.50 an hour.

ENERGY PROGRAMS

RECEPTIONIST/SCHEDULER, 20 hours (seasonal) based in Greenfield

The primary responsibility of this position is to provide telephone and walk-in reception and interview scheduling for the Fuel Assistance Program and related energy programs.  Will also inform applicants of requirements and answer general questions about the program.

Applicants must have good communication skills, be detail oriented and work effectively with low income clients.  Basic computer and data entry experience needed.  Bilingual ability helpful (Spanish/Russian/English).

This position has the primary responsibilities of conducting interviews, both in- person and over the phone, for potentially eligible fuel assistance clients.  Applicants must be well organized and able to work effectively with low-income clients and private contractors.  Spreadsheet and data system work required.  Candidates must be able to travel to Greenfield for training.

EEC Enrollment Counselor

Greenfield: 32.5 hours. $13.17-14.18/hr. Candidate will be responsible for assisting parents in obtaining quality full day Child Care services and for the day to day management of all full day contracted and voucher slots in Franklin County.  3 years related experience or AA in related field and 1 year experience is required. Payrange: $11.90-12.92 per hour.

You can make a difference in the start of a child's school day.  Ensure that transportation services are carried out in a safe and appropriate manner that is consistent with all state and Head Start guidelines. Paid Training by PCDC.  Maintain a safe and orderly environment on the bus and create a bridge between home and school.  Some experience working with young children, basic knowledge of vehicle and pedestrian safety protocols, CPR and First Aid certification offered upon hire. 

Westfield, part-time up to 25 hours per week in a 3 tier shift.  School year September through May.  Pay Range: $9.37-10.18/hour.

SUBSTITUTE BUS MONITOR
Community Action’s Parent-Child Development Center is seeking substitute Bus Monitors in Amherst, Northampton, Orange, Turners Falls, Ware and Westfield. Bus Monitors assist infants, toddlers, and preschoolers on and off the school bus. Bus routes run 1 ½ - 3 hrs during the early mornings, midday, and late afternoons. Must be able to engage children in positive social behaviors; assist children to their seats and secure them safely; safely unload children and release to their authorized adult; work cooperatively with the driver, staff, and parents; and maintain a professional and positive attitude. All applicants must be at least 18 yrs. old and have reliable transportation to meet the bus. Prospective employees must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. and successfully pass a background check, plus submit a current physical. CPR and First Aid certified preferred. Responsible for providing nutrition assessments, education and counseling to participants in individual and group settings.

Candidates should have a BA in Nutrition (required), experience in community or clinical nutrition and good communication skills.  Candidates must also be sensitive to the needs of the participant population, have reliable transportation and be available to work at multiple sites with some evenings and weekend hours.  Employment is contingent on a satisfactory CORI and a safe driving record.
