Community Action seeks an energetic, highly organized individual with excellent customer service skills to assist individuals & families with access to supportive services, public benefits (SNAP & MassHealth) and other resources. The ideal candidate will have an Associate’s degree in Human Services or related field; at least one year experience in Human Services or applicable work experience with individuals and families that have low-incomes, additional directly related experience may be substituted for education; excellent computer skills; ability to work independently and occasionally travel throughout service region. Responsibilities include answering our Information & Referral line and screening callers for supportive services; meeting with people to do in-depth assessments to help increase and stabilize their income by assisting with applications for benefits and financial assistance, reviewing and educating them about their budget, developing plans of action, and making connections to resources; file organization and data entry.

37.5 hour position based in Greenfield office, $15 an hour, with benefits. Knowledge of resources and agencies in our service area preferred and Bi-lingual (English-Spanish) preferred. TAX PROGRAM ASSISTANT

Community Action’s Tax program assistant will conduct the eligibility screening and intake, and schedule tax preparation appointments. Responsibilities also include tracking calls, confirming appointments both in writing and by phone, and helping to follow-up with taxpayers who need to provide additional documentation to completer their return. Training in basic tax prep will be provided to better understand the screening and tax preparation process. This is a part-time, temporary (Dec to mid-April) 25 hrs week maximum (some variance Dec & April).

The ideal candidate will have High School Diploma or GED and 1 year experience in office-related functions including customer service or other relevant experience; ability to complete training and IRS certification in basic tax prep; one year customer service experience preferred; bilingual/bicultural (Spanish/English) preferred.  Pay rate $14/ hour. Community Action is seeking a positive, compassionate hard-working person to join our team as a full-time Home Visitor with the Franklin County North Quabbin Healthy Families program.   This nationally recognized long-term home-visiting program serves pregnant and parenting teens and their babies. Experience providing supportive services to families with infants and toddlers as well as working with culturally diverse populations required.   This position requires daily travel to homes across the Franklin County and North Quabbin service area as well as thorough documentation and record-keeping.  Candidates must have a minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent and be able to comfortably navigate computer database.  Candidates must demonstrate ability to effectively organize job tasks, be flexible, and have reliable transportation. Previous experience with home-visiting and/ or parenting a plus! Excellent training, supervision and employee benefits. Starting pay rate $15/ hour.

Reporting to the Director of Business Operations, they will coordinate child care enrollment billing activities, work closely with families to ensure timely payments, support and monitor payment compliance, track and report fee activities to maximize revenue collection and to ensure compliance. Minimum qualifications are a High School diploma and 5 years related work experience or equivalent combination of related education and work experience. Must have strong customer service skills, be proficient utilizing Microsoft Excel and Word, have excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills, be comfortable working in fast-paced, deadline driven environment, and have the ability to work independently and as a member of a team. FOOD SERVICE SUPERVISOR

The Parent-Child Development Center is looking for a Food Service Supervisor. Responsible for the coordinating and supervising of staff for five main kitchens and all satellite locations in Hampshire, Franklin, and West Hampden County regions. Associate’s Degree in Hospitality Management or related field. Four years professional cooking experience, including one year supervisory/management experience OR a High School Diploma/GED and a Certificate in Culinary Arts, five years professional cooking experience including one year supervisory/management plus Serv-Safe Certification.

Successful candidates must have banquet or institutional cooking experience with a thorough knowledge of inventory management and experience developing menus using  USDA standards. They must be able to bend, lift up to 50 pounds, and load and unload food for delivery. Have excellent organizational and communication skills.  Must demonstrate ability to be highly productive in a fast paced environment, display cultural competence, and be sensitive to the needs of families with lower incomes.  Employment contingent upon satisfactory completion of a complete background investigation, including: CORI, DCF, SORI and fingerprint-based checks. Salary range $21.02 to 22.55 per hour, 37.5 hours/full year, highly collaborative work environment, and excellent benefits.

SUBSTITUTE BUS MONITOR

Community Action’s Parent-Child Development Center is seeking substitute Bus Monitors in Amherst, Northampton, Orange, Turners Falls, Ware and Westfield. Bus Monitors assist infants, toddlers, and preschoolers on and off the school bus. Bus routes run 1 ½ - 3 hrs during the early mornings, midday, and late afternoons. Must be able to engage children in positive social behaviors; assist children to their seats and secure them safely; safely unload children and release to their authorized adult; work cooperatively with the driver, staff, and parents; and maintain a professional and positive attitude. All applicants must be at least 18 yrs. old and have reliable transportation to meet the bus. Prospective employees must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. and successfully pass a background check, plus submit a current physical. CPR and First Aid certified preferred.
