The ideal candidate will possess advanced quantitative and qualitative analysis skills; facility with developing logic models and outcome measures; excellent verbal and written communication skills; and 4 years of grantwriting experience in a broad range of areas. Must be able to work both collaboratively and independently in a fast-paced environment. Attention to detail, excellent time management, and sensitivity to the needs of people with low incomes are a must. Background in social services/non-profit settings preferred.

Get involved in your community - Canvassers will knock door-to-door in selected neighborhoods in Franklin County to distribute information to help people re-enroll for health insurance. 20 hours/week, with 3-4 weekly shifts (Saturdays and weekday evenings). Temporary position 11/3/14-2/6/15.

Qualifications include good verbal communication skills, ability to learn about health insurance re-enrollment and explain the basics to local residents; ability to work independently and as a member of a team; physical ability to walk up and down stairs and go from house to house in cold weather; valid Massachusetts drivers’ license and safe driving record. Bilingual applicants, Spanish or Moldovan/Russian, preferred. Pay rate is $15 per hour.

Energy Technician:  Energy Programs seeking an experienced technician with ability to create multifamily and residential lighting project proposals including cost effectiveness and relative payback calculations and ability to size single family heating systems for replacement.  Position will also include direct install of CFL and LED lighting.  Experience or knowledge of creating proposals in multifamily or commercial/industrial projects desired.  Reliable transportation required.  Position will be housed at the Energy offices 393 Main Street, Greenfield.  Service territory includes 4 western Massachusetts counties.  This is a 37.5 hour a week position.

Community Actions’ Parent-Child Development Center (PCDC) operates large Head Start and Early Education and Care programs throughout Franklin, Hampshire and Western Hampden Counties and is currently seeking a Family Services Manager.  The Family Services Manager oversees all aspects of the Family Services Department, provides effective leadership and supervision to the Family Services team according to Head Start, EEC and DCF Regulations, ensures comprehensive case management, monitoring and reporting systems, compliance, best practice and timely meeting of program goals. Minimum qualification requirements are a Bachelor’s Degree in social work or related field and 5 years of supervisory and management experience. The ideal candidate will be a seasoned manager with a Master’s Degree in Social Work and at least 5 years supervisory and management experience in the field of Early Education and Care and/or Head Start. Candidate must have excellent analytical, oral and written communication  skills, be computer literate, demonstrating competence with email, word processing, and data systems.

FOOD SERVICES SUPERVISOR 

The Parent-Child Development Center is looking for a Food Service Supervisor. Responsible for the coordinating and supervising staff of five main kitchens and all satellite locations in Hampshire, Franklin, and West Hampden County regions. Associate’s Degree in Hospitality Management or related field. Five years professional cooking experience, including one year supervisory/management experience OR a High School Diploma/GED and a Certificate in Culinary Arts, five years professional cooking experience including one year supervisory/management plus Serv-Safe Certification. Successful candidates must have banquet or institutional cooking experience with a thorough knowledge of inventory management and experience developing menus using the USDA standards. They must, be able to bend, lift up to 50 pounds, and load and unload food for delivery. Have excellent organizational and communication skills.  Must demonstrate ability to be highly productive in a fast paced environment, display cultural competence, and be sensitive to the needs of families with lower incomes.  Employment contingent upon satisfactory completion of a complete background investigation, including: CORI, DCF, SORI and fingerprint-based checks. Salary range $18.07 to 19.79 per hour, 37.5 hours/full year, highly collaborative work environment, and excellent benefits. You can make a difference in the start of a child's school day.  Ensure that transportation services are carried out in a safe and appropriate manner that is consistent with all state and Head Start guidelines. Paid Training by PCDC.  Maintain a safe and orderly environment on the bus and create a bridge between home and school.  Some experience working with young children, basic knowledge of vehicle and pedestrian safety protocols, CPR and First Aid certification offered upon hire. 

Westfield, part-time up to 25 hours per week in a 3 tier shift.  School year September through May.  Pay Range: $9.37-10.18/hour.

SUBSTITUTE BUS MONITOR
Community Action’s Parent-Child Development Center is seeking substitute Bus Monitors in Amherst, Northampton, Orange, Turners Falls, Ware and Westfield. Bus Monitors assist infants, toddlers, and preschoolers on and off the school bus. Bus routes run 1 ½ - 3 hrs during the early mornings, midday, and late afternoons. Must be able to engage children in positive social behaviors; assist children to their seats and secure them safely; safely unload children and release to their authorized adult; work cooperatively with the driver, staff, and parents; and maintain a professional and positive attitude. All applicants must be at least 18 yrs. old and have reliable transportation to meet the bus. Prospective employees must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. and successfully pass a background check, plus submit a current physical. CPR and First Aid certified preferred.
