TAX PROGRAM ASSISTANT, Temporary, part-time position

Community Action’s Tax Program Assistant will conduct eligibility screening and intake, and schedule participant appointments for 2014 tax preparation, train and supervise volunteers who are scheduling appointments. Responsible for tracking calls, confirming appointments and following up with taxpayers until their return is complete. Training and certification in basic tax preparation will be provided. Assistant will help with tax prep as needed. Qualifications include: excellent organizational and customer service skills, proficiency with Excel and with on-line calendars, ability to work with diverse populations and maintain strict confidentiality. Must be able to drive personal vehicle to various sites as needed. 10-30 hrs/week,  December 1- May 15, $12.36/hr.

Energy Technician:  Energy Programs seeking a technician with knowledge of residential lighting project proposals including cost effectiveness, and the ability to learn to size single family heating systems for replacement.  Position will also include direct install of CFL and LED screw in lighting.  Experience or knowledge of creating proposals in multifamily or commercial/industrial projects desired but not required.  Reliable transportation required.  Position will be housed at the Energy offices 393 Main Street, Greenfield.  Service territory includes 4 western Massachusetts counties.    This is a 37.5 hour a week position.

We are seeking a dynamic, compassionate, and hard-working human services professional to join our team as a Supervisor for our Franklin County North Quabbin Healthy Families program.  This position offers the opportunity to positively affect the lives of young families by motivating and supporting a team of home visitors who focus on maternal infant health, parenting education, and family stabilization. 

The ideal candidate has a mental health background as well as experience with home-visiting and reflective supervision practice.   Candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 3 years of relevant leadership/ supervisory experience as well as knowledge of the FC/NQ community. 

This is a 30 hr./wk. position requiring travel throughout the FC/NQ region. Pay rate is $18-19 per hour.

Reporting to the Family Services Manager, supervise Family Advocates to ensure effective case management, file and data integrity, collaboration and family engagement according to Parent, Family and Community Engagement (PFCE) and other program goals. Must be computer literate, with proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel, and must demonstrate excellent analytical, oral and written communication skills. Must demonstrate experience with case management in human services and must quickly learn and be able to use internal data system for tracking, monitoring and reporting. Candidate must demonstrate excellent professional judgment and have the ability to make sound decisions, knowledge of Head Start requirements preferred. Minimum qualification requirements are a BA/BS in Human Services or related field, 2 years program administration (to include 1 year supervisory experience) or Associates Degree in Human Services 3 years of program administration and 1 year supervisory experience.  Reliable transportation and valid driver’s license; satisfactory background check; current physical exam and MMR verification. 

Position is based in Franklin County.  37.5 hours/week school year; 32 hours/week summer.  $15.50-$16.71 hour, excellent benefits.

 Community Actions’ Parent-Child Development Center (PCDC) operates large Head Start and Early Education and Care programs throughout Franklin, Hampshire and Western Hampden County and is currently seeking a full time Buildings and Grounds Supervisor. Reporting to the Director of Business Operations, the Building and Grounds Supervisor is responsible to ensure safe, clean, and compliant facilities. Duties include supervision of 3 maintenance staff, oversight of systems for preventive maintenance, renovation projects and bidding of capital projects. Demonstrated maintenance skills, knowledge of HVAC, electric and plumbing systems and budgeting of small to medium building renovations, planning and bidding of capital projects are required. Must have ability to provide a flexible and adaptable work schedule. Must be computer literate, a good communicator and be able to work collaboratively in a fast paced environment.  Minimum qualification requirements are a High School diploma and 6 years related experience, to include at least 2 years supervisory experience or a comparable combination of education and experience. The Parent-Child Development Center is looking for a Food Service Supervisor. Responsible for the coordinating and supervising staff of five main kitchens and all satellite locations in Hampshire, Franklin, and West Hampden County regions. Associate’s Degree in Hospitality Management or related field. Five years professional cooking experience, including one year supervisory/management experience OR a High School Diploma/GED and a Certificate in Culinary Arts, five years professional cooking experience including one year supervisory/management plus Serv-Safe Certification. Successful candidates must have banquet or institutional cooking experience with a thorough knowledge of inventory management and experience developing menus using the USDA standards. They must, be able to bend, lift up to 50 pounds, and load and unload food for delivery. Have excellent organizational and communication skills.  Must demonstrate ability to be highly productive in a fast paced environment, display cultural competence, and be sensitive to the needs of families with lower incomes.  Employment contingent upon satisfactory completion of a complete background investigation, including: CORI, DCF, SORI and fingerprint-based checks. Based in Amherst, 35 hour per week position.  Engages in collaborative partnership building with enrolled families and provides comprehensive case management services, in accordance with Head Start Regulations and as outlined in the PCDC Service Delivery Plan. 

Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Human Services or related field preferred and one year experience in Human Services or related field or 12 college credits and at least three 3 years of experience in Human Services or related field.  Must demonstrate very good verbal and written communication skills, the ability to prioritize and be exceptionally organized.  Must possess computer literacy skills and be comfortable with file review and data entry tasks.  Familiarity with Head Start and/or Head Start Programs preferred.    Current valid driver’s license and safe driving record; satisfactory current Background Records Check (BRC).  Bilingual English/Spanish Required.

SUBSTITUTE BUS MONITOR
Community Action’s Parent-Child Development Center is seeking substitute Bus Monitors in Amherst, Northampton, Orange, Turners Falls, Ware and Westfield. Bus Monitors assist infants, toddlers, and preschoolers on and off the school bus. Bus routes run 1 ½ - 3 hrs during the early mornings, midday, and late afternoons. Must be able to engage children in positive social behaviors; assist children to their seats and secure them safely; safely unload children and release to their authorized adult; work cooperatively with the driver, staff, and parents; and maintain a professional and positive attitude. All applicants must be at least 18 yrs. old and have reliable transportation to meet the bus.
