Community Action’s Energy program is seeking a full-time Energy Technician 2. This position will conduct energy audits for income eligible clients both in single family and multi-family buildings and various other projects encompassing energy technical support throughout Franklin and Hampshire Counties (occasionally in Hampden and Berkshire counties).

Minimum Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, green building, engineering or related field required. Associates degree in related field and 3 years’ experience can be substituted for Bachelor’s. 2 yrs experience with heating systems and BPI building analyst or equivalent required.

Candidates should have a knowledge of building codes, building design, building diagnostics and building instruction including inherent problems associated with older & multi-family homes. Knowledge of solar gains and losses, heating system design and testing, VOCs & how to mitigate mold/mildew, etc. Proficient computer skills and excellent verbal and written communication skills needed. Sensitivity to cultural and socioeconomic diversity and the needs of individuals with low incomes.

SUBSTITUTE BUS MONITOR

Community Action’s Parent-Child Development Center is seeking substitute Bus Monitors in Amherst, Northampton, Orange, Turners Falls, Ware and Westfield. Bus Monitors assist infants, toddlers, and preschoolers on and off the school bus. Bus routes run 1 ½ - 3 hrs during the early mornings, midday, and late afternoons. Must be able to engage children in positive social behaviors; assist children to their seats and secure them safely; safely unload children and release to their authorized adult; work cooperatively with the driver, staff, and parents; and maintain a professional and positive attitude. All applicants must be at least 18 yrs. old and have reliable transportation to meet the bus. Prospective employees must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. and successfully pass a background check, plus submit a current physical. CPR and First Aid certified preferred. SUBSTITUTE COOK

A Head Start Preschool is looking for a reliable individual with a High School Diploma or GED and 2 years cooking experience. Must be Serv-Safe certified. Kitchens are in Franklin, Hampshire and Hampden Co. This individual must have flexibility in schedule and be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.  Job will include all aspects of cooking/serving and cleanup.   Pay rate is $12/hour.  Employment is contingent upon a satisfactory Early Education & Care Background Record Check (BRC) investigation. BREASTFEEDING PEER COUNSELOR

Peer counselors provide education, support, and encouragement to pregnant and breastfeeding women, helping to ensure that they have a positive and successful breastfeeding experience. Peer counselors counsel WIC pregnant and breastfeeding mothers by telephone and clinic visits at scheduled intervals determined by the program. This is a part-time (5 hrs/wk) position. Provide effective supervision to team of Case Managers and effective oversight of program—from youth enrollment to tracking of outcomes. 37.5 hrs/week. Salary $35-38,000 depending on qualifications.
