Please use the name you want to be called in all name fields on the application (first name, last name, preferred first name). If you have a different legal name, you can still use the name you want to be called in all name fields in the application, resume, and cover letter. We want our hiring team and interview committees to see and use the name that you use.
You will have an opportunity to provide a different name for references if needed. If you are offered and accept a position of employment, you will be able to provide a different name to be used for legal documents such as CORI background check, tax documents, and payroll forms.
You will also be able to finalize what name you would like used publicly for your email and display name in our staff directory. It’s okay if that changes from the name you originally applied with.

COMMUNITY ACTION EMPLOYEE BENEFITS
Community Action offers industry-leading benefits that support all aspects of your life, inside and outside of work. Community Action offers a comprehensive benefits package. Coverage is available to regular employees scheduled to work 20 or more hours. This includes competitive insurance premiums, paying 80% of the core plan premium for employees working 30 or more hours per week. Premiums are pro-rated for part-time employees. Most benefits are available for an employee’s family, which may include a domestic partner.
Community Action is a qualifying employer for the Public Service Loan Forgiveness program.

We offer three HMO plan options. Community Action pays the first 50% of the deductible for each plan through an embedded HRA account.
We offer two dental plan option. Community Action pays 50% of the premium for dental insurance.
The cost of this plan is paid 100% by the employee. Community Action is pleased to offer this insurance at a group rate and on a pre-tax basis.
Long-term pays up to 60% of wages. Payment is dependent on claim approval by Mutual of Omaha.
Employees may contribute pre-tax dollars to a Medical or Dependent Care FSA. This fund is used for qualified out-of- pocket medical (co-pays, deductibles, glasses, contacts, etc.) and/or dependent care expenses. A carryover of up to $610 is allowed for the Medical FSA.
All employees of Community Action Pioneer Valley are eligible to participate in the Community Action Retirement Plan. Community Action will match 100% of contributions, up to 4% of eligible earnings, for those who become eligible for the match.
Community Action offers generous time off in the form of accrued time and paid holidays. A full-time new employee accrues the following over a one-year period:
- 15 vacation days
- 4 float days
- 12 sick days
Additionally, the agency recognizes 12 paid holidays: New Year’s Day, MLK Jr. Day, President’s Day, Memorial Day, Juneeteenth, Fourth of July, Labor Day, Indigenous People’s Day (Columbus Day), Veteran’s Day, Thanksgiving and the day after, and Christmas.
Community Action provides time for certain Bereavement and Civil Leave situations, such as jury duty.
Community Action employees are eligible for discounted memberships and rates at various businesses.
